John Lewis letter, 1796.

Lewis (d. 1823) was a Revolutionary War soldier, Presbyterian elder and friend to Andrew Jackson. The collection contains a letter to Lewis, dated November 9, 1796, from Robert James, Agent of the North American Land Co., outlining plans for a new road through the W. Va. mountains.
